Name of the organisation or program:Didsbury Lions Club
What would you like us to know? Tell us about the organization or program.:Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired. Internationally, the Lions International Eye Bank supports cornea transplants, sight conservation, and other work relating to helping the blind regain their sight or function better in the dark world. In Didsbury, members of the Lions Club volunteer their time in service to their community. The Club owns and operates the Lions Shuttle Bus, offering taxi service for the elderly, handicapped, and everyone! Each year, members of the Didsbury Lions Club build a playhouse or gazebo and raffle off tickets at the annual Didsbury Art, Travel & Trade Expo and throughout the summer, with the draw being made in August during the Fair & Rodeo. Proceeds from the raffle go to support many worthwhile events and activities in the community, and those initiated by Lions Club International. Club members also host the Lions Auction every spring, with proceeds going to community projects. The Club also has a few items available to rent: a grill, handicap scooter, and an electric wheelchair. If you are looking to become involved in Didsbury, make new friends, and enjoy helping others, the Lions Club could be just what you're looking for. Men and women new member candidates are welcome at the 5-0 Club meetings twice a month.
