We're welcoming a new family!
Didsbury, Alberta is known for its warmth and generosity. At Zion Church, we want to extend that warmth in the name of Christ as we welcome a new family into our community.
We have all heard reports of the devastation in the Middle East and Africa, but have often felt as though our best efforts fall painfully short of where our hearts would like to take us. While we are unable to provide a safe, comfortable home for every displaced family, we can provide that blessing for one household. We are working hard to that end, and we trust that you will join us in extending compassion to these yet unknown friends.
We will do our best to keep you updated on the latest developments through this website. If you would like more information, please feel free to email us or call the church at 403-335-3629.
Who is this family?
We would love to tell you their names. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide that information at this time. We can tell you that they are a young family with two school aged boys. Their homeland is Syria, but due to the upheaval, they had to literally run for their lives. They are currently in Lebanon.
When will they arrive?
The status of our refugee family application is that it has been approved by Christian and Missionary Alliance and is ready to be submitted to the government when C&MA has an allocation. The last word from them is that an allocation may be open in July, 2016, after which it will be 6 - 12 months for processing.
How can I help?
The fact that you're asking the question indicates that you're ready to do the most effective thing possible; warmly welcome the family when they arrive. Thank you for partnering with us to offer these people the best possible home. The most effective help you can offer is to pray for them.
